Process Mining — and the difference to Magnet

Process Mining: Process mining reconstructs workflows from one system's event logs — it measures what's measurable inside that single system.

Process mining reads the log data (event logs) of a system — typically an ERP — and traces the actual workflow from it. That’s powerful for highly structured, transactional processes that run cleanly inside one system.

Where does process mining hit its limits?

The real process rarely lives in just one system. It runs through email, tickets, calls, files and several tools — and exactly that part shows up in no event log. What isn’t logged, mining can’t see.

How is Process Magnet different?

Magnet doesn’t measure one system; it pulls the process together from all sources — including what happens between systems. Not an event log, but lived reality. The comparison is expanded in the post Process mining measures. Magnet pulls the process..
